Declutter Diaries: Packing for an Overnight Hotel Stay

Gutten Moed and welcome back to Declutter Diaries. Chol
Hamoed is a popular time for travel, whether your destination is Niagara Falls,
Pennsylvania, or somewhere even further. But before the trip begins, there’s
the challenge of packing. A little organization can make packing simple, so you
can focus on relaxing and enjoying the trip.
Organize This:
Pack complete outfits, including accessories, in Ziploc bags
or washable packing cubes. This way, you won't have to rummage through your
suitcase for every child. Don’t forget to include pajamas.
Most hotels provide basic toiletries, but it's a good idea
to bring your own essentials. Pack a toothbrush, travel-size shampoo and soap,
skincare products, and any medications you need in a small bag for
organization.
Things that come in handy
- Band-aids and pain relievers
- Phone charger and power bank
- A small pack of wipes and tissues
- Extra snacks
- Slippers (to avoid walking barefoot on
hotel floors)
- A small bag for dirty laundry
- A light sweater
One-Item Purge:
If you have an old garment bag from a suit you bought years
ago, it's time to toss it. A replacement from Amazon will better protect your
clothes while traveling.
Myth Buster:
Myth: Packing more outfits means you’ll be ready for any
situation, resulting in a stress-free trip.
Truth: Overpacking doesn’t guarantee preparedness. It only
means you'll be carrying extra weight and have less space for essentials. Pack
thoughtfully, including only the items you will actually wear.
Did You Know?
Hotels change bed linens after every guest, but studies show
that items like handles and light switches are rarely sanitized. A quick
wipe-down when you arrive can make your stay a little cleaner!
