De Blasio takes, Cuomo Gives: ‘Tribute in Lights’ Will Happen After All

New York - The longstanding feud between Gov, Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio has spread into yet another sphere.

The 9/11 Tribute in Light, which the de Blasio administration last week said it was canceling this year due to Covid fears, will happened after all after Cuomo got involved.

The twin towers of light have been paying tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who died in the Twin Towers for the past nineteen years. It shines over the Manhattan sky each night for about a week before Sept. 11.

Michael Frazier, the spokesman of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, had said that the blue beams of light will not happen this year since it poses a health risk to the three dozen employees who work in close proximity for several weeks to produce it.

But on Saturday, Cuomo said that former Mayor Mike Bloomberg will pay for health workers to oversee the workers.

"This year it is especially important that we all appreciate and commemorate 9/11, the lives lost, and the heroism displayed as New Yorkers are once again called upon to face a common enemy,” the governor said in a statement. “I understand the Museum's concern for health and safety, and appreciate their reconsideration. The state will provide health personnel to supervise to make sure the event is held safely while at the same time properly honoring 9/11. We will never forget
