Cuomo Preempts de Blasio, Will Freeze Construction Across State

New York – Once again preempting the downstate mayor, Gov. Andrew Cuomo will announce Friday morning that he will freeze most construction projects across the state, hours before Mayor Bill de Blasio was supposed to have given that order in New York City.
The freeze, which comes amid complaints by construction workers that they are unprotected from the coronavirus, affects all nonessential residential and commercial building.
There are exceptions carved out for Infrastructure and transportation projects, as well as emergency repairs, hospital building and work on affordable housing.
