Cuomo Adds Four More States to Quarantine List

Tuesday morning, Cuomo announced 4 more states under travel advisory as more areas across the country see an uptick in coronavirus cases.

The advisory requires travelers arriving from certain states hit hard by COVID_19 to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the tristate area.

States included in the list have a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average or a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average.

At first, there were 16 states under travel advisory, then on Monday, July 13th, three more states were added.

This morning, the governor announced that Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio and Wisconsin now join the growing list.

Delaware was removed Tuesday, bringing the total number of states affected to 22.

Cuomo also announced that New York reported 5 Covid-19 related deaths Monday and that 1.5% of Monday’s coronavirus tests statewide were positive.

This comes after the tris-state area was named the epicenter of the country’s coronavirus outbreak, during the months of March and April, as the number of cases were in the hundreds and thousands and the death toll continued to climb for weeks.

To try and enforce the travel ban, travelers will need to provide a location form stating where they are coming from and where they plan on going before they leave the airport. Forms will be handed out on the plane.

In the state of New York all airports will collect contact forms. A traveler who leaves the airport without providing the information will receive a summons immediately and a $2,000 fine. The traveler will also be brought to a hearing in order to complete mandatory quarantine.

States under travel advisory now include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Kansa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin.
