Coronavirus Cases Drop in New York After Alarming Rise in Numbers

After hitting 918 new coronavirus cases in New York on Friday, the highest number since mid-June, the numbers fell back down Sunday, Governor Cuomo announced.

On June 29th, new infection cases were at 391, then jumped to 918 cases on Friday July 3rd.  On July 4th the numbers  dropped to 726.

While changes in number of confirmed cases isn’t the only indicator that officials are looking out for, they are watching closely as numbers are rising in 40 out of 50 states.

Cuomo released a statement saying "Our actions today determine our numbers tomorrow, and as we move through this holiday weekend, I strongly urge everyone to closely follow state guidance on safe practices and local governments to enforce that guidance,"

On Sunday July 5th, the total state wide number of deaths related to COVID-19 hit 24,896.
