Con Edison Rate Increase To Go Into Effect Next Month

By Idy Perl
The second in a series of Con Edison’s preposterous price hikes for NYC will be going into effect next month.
In 2024 Con Ed announced a series of three price hikes, the first of which went into effect in September. The second price hike will be going into effect on April 1st and will raise the rates for customers in NYC by 5.1%.
But that’s not all, as the New York State Public Service Commission can still approve the third rate increase that Con Ed proposed, which would raise prices by another 11.4% in April of 2026.
Governor Hochul has said that she opposes the rate increases, and it remains to be seen if she will indeed fight against greedy companies on behalf of NYC residents.
