City Asks New Yorkers Returning from 5 Countries to Self-Isolate for 14 Days

In a memo released by NYC Mayor Bill de Blaise, the City of New York is asking New Yorkers who recently returned from 5 countries to self-isolate for 14 days to help stop the spreading of COVID-19, commonly referred to as Coronavirus.

New Yorkers returning from China, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Japan are asked to self-isolate. Those countries have been hit the hardest by the spread of the virus.

Over 2,700 people are in quarantine due to their return from the countries. Those people are in touch with the City’s health department. “They have a phone number to call us if and when they develop symptoms. There haven’t been any individuals in that group that have reached out to us,” City Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Bardot, said on Thursday.
