Canadian Smoke Is Drifting To New York Again

Forecasters are warning that hazy conditions might be returning to New York due to Canadian wildfires.
New Yorkers still remember the eerie orange smoke that cast a hazy glow over the city last summer. Although conditions aren’t expected to be as bad this time around, light smoke was already visible in New York and New Jersey earlier this morning.
“You may notice hazy skies today,” the National Weather Service stated on X, formerly Twitter, today. “It is coming from wildfire smoke, which has overspread across the area from north to south. We expect this to stick around for the next several days. Not expecting harmful impacts to air quality, at this time.”
Many Canadian residents have been forced to evacuate their homes as Canada’s fire department struggles to control the fires.
