Brooklyn Marine Terminal Set for Major Revamp

By Y.M. Lowy
The Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Red Hook is getting a major upgrade, led by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, which now runs the terminal.
The first phase focuses on replacing four old, unused cranes with a new electric crane and repairing Pier 10, where ships dock. The city is investing $18 million in these initial upgrades, part of a broader $80 million plan.
Demolition is scheduled from April to August 2025, with the electric crane expected by spring 2027. The old cranes will be recycled, and the pier improvements aim to keep the port strong for years to come.
