Boro Parkers Quickly Transform Calm Protest into Joyous Simchas Beit HaShoeivah

By Yehudit Garmaise

Simply not able to stay upset for long, tonight, Boro Parkers gathered again at 9 Pm on 13th Ave. and 47th St. to calmly protest the intensified restrictions that Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law today in an executive order, but soon after the Yidden gathered, their protests spontaneously transformed to freilach dancing.

In Boro Park, lockdowns or no, this week is z’man simchasanu, and some Chassidic sources say that within seven days of Sukkos are the wellsprings from which we draw our joy for the rest of the year.

According to Tractate Sukkah in the Mishnah, "He who has not seen the rejoicing at the Place of the Water-Drawing has never seen rejoicing in his life."

Several Yidden in Boro Park held high tall blue Trump flags that waved in the night on 13th Ave. as leibidik music played, and men danced in a circle.

Times are uncertain, but the keyboard and microphones are out in the streets of Boro Park as Yidden sing, dance, celebrate, and bring down even more simcha
