Boro Park Chapel Goes From 50 Levayas a Day to Regular Schedule
Boro Park - In a sign that the coronavirus is easing, a funeral home in Boro Park has gone from dozens of levayos a day to a more regular, pre-virus routine.

A source who spoke to boropark24.com said that it appears the drastic social distancing measures undertaken by Boro Park residents the past month is working.

“One chapel in Boro Park used to do an average of 20 levayos a day. On one day they even had over 50 levayos, on the Motzei Shabbos before Pesach,” the source said.

The source said that throughout the virus’ spread, the heimishe chevros kaddisha have valiantly continued to provide kavod hameis, despite the frenetic pace that required.

“The funeral homes in Boro Park made regular taharos throughout the past few weeks,” he said. “Other did not.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has increased the severity of the distancing in recent days over fears people might become complacent and face a second wave. Despite the slowing speed of the coronavirus, 4,610 New York City residents have contacted it in the 24 hours since Friday morning.
