Boro Park Askanim Attend White House Jewish Heritage Month Event

By Idy Perl

A number of askanim from Boro Park had the opportunity to attend the Jewish Heritage Month event at the White House. The event took place yesterday with President Biden, Vice President Harris, and the Second Gentleman as some of the attendees. BPJCC CEO Avi Greenstein, in addition to Jacob Eisdorfer, Ezra Friedlander, and Jacob Kornbluh represented the Boro Park community at the event.

President Biden spoke about the situation in Gaza, stating how there isn’t any comparison between the IDF and Hamas and reiterating his support for Israel. Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, the Jewish husband of VP Harris, related how his father got emotional when they placed a mezuzah for the first time on the doorway of the Vice President’s office.

“In these trying times when there’s so much hate and antisemitism going on… to have an opportunity to celebrate Jewish heritage at the White House is an extraordinary thing and something that we’re very grateful for,” Avi Greenstein says.
