Body Recovered Near Verrazzano Bridge

Marine units and the Coast Guard conducted a search earlier this morning for a person in the water near the Verrazzano Bridge.

Firefighters and NYPD Harbor units joined the search when a body was located around 50 yards in from the shoreline.

The body was recovered from the water, brought to shore in the Shore Road Park area, and transported to the Coast Guard base in Staten Island.

The identity of the body has not been revealed.
