Blue ‘Tribute in Lights’ Will Not Shine Over Manhattan This 9/11

New York - The twin towers of light paying tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who died in the Twin Towers nineteen years ago will not shine over Manhattan this year due to Covid fears.

Michael Frazier, the spokesman of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, said that the blue beams of light will go the way of the annual reading of names, which was recently canceled.

“The world’s beloved twin beams of light regrettably will not shine over lower Manhattan as part of this year's tributes to commemorate 9/11," Frazier said. "This incredibly difficult decision was reached in consultation with our partners after concluding the health risks during the pandemic were far too great for the large crew required to produce the annual Tribute in Light."

Frazier said that about three dozen employees are required to work in close proximity for several weeks to produce the tribute.
