Blackout Expected on Thursday in Parts of Brooklyn

As temperatures continue to hit a stifling 90+ degrees, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio warned of a major power outage expected in areas in southern Brooklyn on Thursday.

De Blasio has alerted residents to conserve as much energy as possible after Con Edison announced on Thursday morning, that the electrical supply in Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton, Greenwood, South Park Slope, and Sunset Park are all on the verge of a total blackout.

The Mayor is asking that everyone try and conserve energy by “avoiding using major appliances” like washer and dryers and limiting the use of air conditioners and microwaves.

“Everyone please take this warning seriously, please act on it. We will push Con Ed hard to resolve this situation quickly,” de Blasio said.
