BDE: Tchenger Rov, Rov Osher Anshil Jungreis, zt”l

This afternoon came the news of the sad passing of the Tchenger Rov, zt”l, who was niftar at the age of 74 after a short illness.

Rav Jungreis was a direct descendant of his namesake, the Menuchas Osher, zy”a, of Tchenger. He was born in America immediately following the war, and his entire 74 years of life on this earth was a saga of Torah v’avodah.

Sadly, his passing comes just as the family is completing the year of aveilus of Rebbetzin Jungreis, the former Tovah Krishevsky, who was his partner in his avodas hakodesh, and in establishing a beautiful family of talmidei chachomim and ovdei Hashem. She was sadly niftar from the Coronavirus epidemic.

“He sat and learned yomam v’lailah, day and night,” related a daughter. In addition to this, he was a marbitz Torah for many years—through this establishing countless talmidim who remember him with fondness and awe.

The Rov had an incredible personality. Anyone who knew him can attest to his extreme eidelkeit and middos tovos, and he was always with a smile. Even when he received a dire diagnosis in the last year, he would not allow his pain to show; he was mekabel yisurim b’ahavah.

The Tchenger Rov leaves behind a beautiful family of ten sons and four daughters, each of whom have established their own Torah homes throughout the world—a true testament to his legacy.

The Levaya will take place at the Satmar Shul on 4514 15th Ave at 5:45 pm
