We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Moshe Yankovitch, z”l, who made his home in Boro Park in recent years. He was in his eighties.
The niftar was born in Romania, and moved to Yerushalayim as a young child. Upon the advice of the Satmar Rebbe, he opened a kosher meat business in Brazil. This is where he raised his family, sending his children to learn in Eretz Yisroel.
He was a well-known figure in the Brazil community, and his meat establishment was widely trusted.
Over the years, he formed a close connection with Rebbe Mottele of Viznitz-Monsey, and he would journey frequently to be with the Rebbe.
About ten years ago, he moved to Boro Park to be near his children. He was a familiar presence in the Krula Beis Medrash, where he was well-known.
In the last few years, he became unwell, and was housebound. His children and grandchildren remained at his side the entire time, forming minyonim for him, and tending to him.
He was niftar this morning, leaving behind a legacy of Torah and yiras shomayim, which he bequeathed to his children.
The Levaya will take place at the Krula Beis Medrash at 6:00 this afternoon.
