BDE: Rav Yisroel Pinchos Halevi Gornish, zt”l.
We are
saddened to inform you of the petirah
of Rav Gornish zt”l, a rov in
Flatbush for decades, Rav Hamachshir
of numerous food establishments in Boro Park and Flatbush.
He had
been unwell for a while.
The rov
and, tbl”ch, his Rebbetzin Rivka
Gornish—a longtime mechaneches in the
Flatbush community—had been dedicated to the community with heart and soul—both
within their shul Khal Chizuk Hadas-Radichov, and without.
The rov was known for his
sensitivity and caring for all, and it was this quality that he spoke of
often—seeking to impart it to his kehillah;
to give to others and to care for others. He also gave many shiurim, and many people in the
community—including rabbonim—consider
themselves his talmidim.
“He was an extremely chashuve rov in our neighborhood, and
raised the level of kashrus around the community—but most of all was the level
of love and respect that he earned from his kehillah,”related one askan in Flatbush. He was a tremendous talmid chochom and an equally great ba’al middos,” he continued.
