BDE: Rav Yehuda Michoel Meisels z”l, Founder of Sarah Shenirer

Boro Park - We are saddened to inform of the petira of Rav Yehuda Michoel Meisels, the founder of Sarah Shenirer in Boro Park and a son-in-law of Mike Tress, who was niftar Monday afternoon from the coronavirus. He was in his 80s.

Rav Michoel, a talmid of Telshe in Cleveland, became menahel of the Sarah Shenirer High School about 40 years ago and transformed it into a college-grade institution that has given thousands of girls and, in recent years, men the ability to earn a degree without going to college.

Rav Michoel married Henie, the daughter of the legendary Vaad Hatzalah and Agudah askan Elimelech “Mike” Tress. Mrs. Meisels was Sarah Shenirer’s principal.

He is survived by three generations of descendants. Mrs. Meisels passed away four years ago.
