BDE: R' Elya Gelbert Z”L, Victim of the Virus

We are saddened to inform the petira of Reb Elya Gelbert Z”L a Gerrer Chasid from Poland/BP who was nfftar from the coronavirus, at the age of 97 years.

Reb Elya survived the Holocaust and rebuilt a beautiful family after the war. He is survived by his children in Israel and NY. 

R’ Eliya Davened in the Gerer Shtibel Shtibel known as" Krohn Heights Shtieble" which is located in the old Spinka shul on 18th Ave and as recent as Purim still came to daven in shul. 

R’ Elya He was Born in Poland and after the war relocated to Brownsville, Crown Heights and then Boro Park, and was zoiche to have remembered the Gerrer Rebbe The Imrei Emmes ZTZ”L
