YS Gold

We regret to inform you of the petirah of Mrs. Klang, a matriarch from the Boro Park community who hailed from dynasties of great tzaddikim. She was 95 years of age.

The nifteres was born in Rzeszow, Poland in the years to her father, Rav Yoel Halpern, a rov in Brezan, who hailed from many generations of Rabbonim in the town of Brezan. On her mother’s side, she was descended from the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, as well as the tzaddikim of Ropshitz and Dzikov.

The family arrived in America in the early 1930’s and settled on the Lower East Side. She attended public school on the Lower East Side, and when Bais Yaakov opened in Williamsburg, she would walk over the bridge to attend school there. She was in the first graduating class of Rebbetzin Kaplan’s Bais Yaakov. She remained steadfast in her Yiddishkeit despite the nisyonos of the generation, and proudly kept the identity of her illustrious yichus.

She went to Eretz Yisroel in the year 1948, and married Reb Yitzchok Zev Klang in the year 1950. She had an extremely close relationship with the Admorim of Viznitz, and this was the reason she went to Eretz Yisroel. She was on a first-name basis with her cousins, the Admorim of Viznitz Monsey and Bnei Brak.

They soon returned to America where she taught for many years in Beis Yaakov High School. Students of Bais Yaakov from the early days recall her incredible lessons and her kind demeanor.

Around 1960, the family moved from the Lower East Side to Boro Park. Here they davened in the Sfas Emes Shtiebel for many years, and later in Beis Chaim Yehoshua, which is led by Rav Yaakov Yosef Halberstam, shlit”a.

The nifteres was an extremely special person who was extremely devoted to her children and her family, and she was extremely dedicated to Torah learning, and instilled a tremendous ahavas haTorah in her children and descendants who credit her with their dedication to Torah.

She raised a beautiful Torah family, and was nifteres this morning at the age of 95.

The Levaya will take place 12:30pm at the Beis Chaim Shia Shul on 17th Ave and 49th St.

Yehi zichra baruch.
