BDE: Mrs. Chana Simpson, a”h

YS Gold
We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Chana Basha Simpson, a”h, a great ba’alas chessed, and the proprietor of Simpson’s Jewelry in Boro Park. She was 88 years old.
The nifteres was the daughter of Reb Moshe Uri and Mrs. Sarah Follman, chassidim from Romania who came to America in the prewar days. Chana Basha was born in 1936, shortly after the arrival of her parents on the Lower East Side.
Despite the fierce winds of assimilation that were blowing in America when she was growing up, Chana would grow up steeped in Yiddishkeit and yiras Shomayim.
She married Reb Leibel Simpson, the son of Rav Eliyahu Simpson, a great talmid chochom and chossid who was one of the most distinguished Lubavitcher chassidim in America.
Together with her husband, she founded Simpson’s Jeweler’s on Thirteenth Avenue, and they gave generously to a variety of causes.
The nifteres leaves behind a large family, many of whom are Lubavitcher shluchim in communities around the United States.
The Levaya will take place outside the World Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway at 4:00 this afternoon.
Yehi zichra baruch.
