BDE: Eldest Active Hatzolah Member in the World Ascends to Olam Ha'Emes

Reb Yehuda Lindenblatt of Brooklyn, also known as f-71, has put away his Hatzolah radio for good, as he ascneded to the Olam Ha'Emes to reap the reward of his immense chessed activities. He was 88 years of age, and had taken calls until well into his eighties.
A child survivor of the Holocaust, Reb Yehuda escaped the Nazis as they entered Budapest. Most of his family would be wiped out by the resha'im, and he saw his work in Hatzolah as an act of revenge in the Nazis. "With Hatzolah, I beat Hitler," he remarked.
Energy was Reb Yehuda's trademark. He responded to calls with alacrity and energy, and he was a great inspiration to the younger volunteers through his dedication and devotion to his calling.
"What a tremendous loss to our Chevra. Yehuda was an example and a role model. I remember being on a call in Manhattan Beach at 2a with yehuda, just a few years ago when he was well into his 80s. It was a cold snowy night. I said to myself it's a freezing snowy night and here's a member in his mid 80s getting out of bed at 2am to go help another yid. May we all learn from him and emulate his true pure willingness to help a yid." said a Flatbush Hatzolah coordinator to BoroPark24.
The levaya will take place in Shomrei Hadas at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon. To watch it live click here.
