Backseat Buckle up Law passes Legislature in NY
The senators of New York have been working to strengthen the seat belt laws. A bill has now been approved requiring adult backseat passengers to buckle up.
The legislation has passed in the state Senate and Assembly. It will now move to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The current law requires adults in the front seat to buckle up. Now the legislation would make it mandatory for adults in the back to buckle up, too. This move will save lives and reduced injury risk to front seat buckled in riders.
This measure has been held up at the state Capitol.
