With the advent of early Shabbosim and motzei Shabbosim comes the traditional avos ubanim on motzei Shabbos at shuls all around Boro Park—and the Shul at Boro Park Center is no different.
This past Motzei Shabbos, parashas Chayei Sarah, the season was commenced with a bang, as dozens of children joined their fathers in bringing the resounding sound of Torah learning to the center and its residents.
“We at the center, as well as the residents, are proud to host the Tinnokos Shel Bais Rabban who hold up the world with their Torah,” said Nachman Feig, Associate Administrator at Boro Park Center.
“The avos ubanim program at Boro Park Center has a special story behind it,” Nachman says. “It began when a young father was at our rehab for a few months, and did not want to miss out on learning with his children. Not being able to go with them, they came to him… and the rest is history; we decided to host the program every week.”
This year, there are a number of young fathers who are in the center, and their children come to join the program at Boro Park Center—brightening their entire week with the light of Torah. In addition, many grandchildren come to learn with their grandfathers who are at the center. There is a storyteller each week, a door prize, as well as pizza and nosh, and the program is run by the talented R’ Avrum Tovia Ambush.
A special guest at this inaugural motzei Shabbos was Rabbi Fischel Shachter, who regaled the talmidim with a riveting story, in addition to the prizes, raffles, and nosh to which the children were treated as they embark on a winter of motzei Shabbos learning.
