Alternative Side Parking Regs Returning for Just One Week

New York - The streets may be unused with so many people at home, but alternate side parking regulations have been suspended for so long they are filthy.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday that he was suspending the suspension of alternate side parking for one week, just to clean the roads. The suspension will resume next week, for a minimum of two weeks.

The regulations have been suspended since the beginning of April, when residents complained that the city was ordering people to remain indoors because of the coronavirus but was forcing them out to move their cars for street cleaning operations.

Street cleaning operations will resume next Monday morning and will continue for the entire week. The rules will be suspended again for two weeks, from May 25 through June 7, when the city will reassess whether they are necessary.
