Alternate Side Parking Returning to NYC After Nearly 4-month Suspension

New York – Alternate side parking regulations are ending their record four months suspension on Monday, after the city completed four phases of reopening from the Covid virus that once kept people locked in their homes.

Street cleaning operations will return on Monday. They had been suspended until now with the argument that the Cuomo administration had mandated that people not leave their homes for nonessential purposes such as moving a vehicle.

The regulations, which were briefly reimposed in the spring for a week of street cleaning, have now been suspended for the longest period in modern history.

Streets will be cleaned once a week under a new policy enacted by Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration, with street cleaners passing by on the last day indicated on signs.
