Adams Rolls Out Metal Detectors In Subway Stations

A few months ago BoroPark24 reported here on Mayor Adams’ plans to incorporate AI powered metal detectors in subway stations to curb crime
At a press conference yesterday Adams announced that the detectors are being rolled out and will be in several subway stations within the next few days. This comes as NYPD data shows that crime on the subways is at pre-pandemic levels.
Many officials have criticized the metal detector program, saying that it’s a violation of privacy and will cause more congestion in the subway stations.
