Adams Maintains Slight Lead After Re-Count, Absentee Ballots Still Must be Counted
After an initial miscalculation and after re-tabulating nine rounds of ranked-choice voting, the NYC Board of Elections (BOE) has released its updated results: with 51.1% of the vote, Eric Adams has maintained his slight lead ahead of Kathryn Garcia, who has 48.9% of the vote.
Approximately 125,000 absentee and affidavit ballots still need to be counted to determine the winner of the Democratic mayoral primary.
The board does not expect to announce official results until July 12.
