84,000 Children's Bikes Recalled

by Mindy Cohn
After the Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 77 incidents caused by faulty handlebars, 84,000 Woom children's bicycles are being voluntarily recalled by the company.
The recall is due to an issue with handlebars that can detach and cause injuries, including cuts and bruises.
"The risk of injury is more likely to occur," the company declares, "when the stem clamp bolt is not sufficiently tightened using a torque wrench to the recommended 10 Nm."
Models being recalled include the original bikes made from 2018 through 2021. Affected bicycles are from original models in sizes 1, 1 PLUS, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 and can be identified by their one-bolt stem clamp design, using a single silver bolt.
