25 Evacuated as Boro Park Shop Firebombed

Boro Park – Fire marshals say they are considering filing more than two dozen attempted murder charges against the person who firebombed a Boro Park auto body shop, forcing 25 people to be evacuated in middle of the night.

A floor atop a tire shop belonging to Yazan Gheith was broken into early Sunday morning and had a Molotov cocktail tossed into it. The flames destroyed the merchandise and machines but there were no injuries reported.

The incident happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. atop a tire shop on Fort Hamilton Parkway, Gheith told boropark24.com.
“I have an open gate,” Gheith said. “He broke my side glass and then threw a cocktail through the gate. My store broke out in fire and completely melted a lot of my merchandise and machinery.”

The 25 people who live on top of the auto repair store were ordered to evacuate for their safety. They were allowed in after first responders determined that it was safe to do so.

“My merchandise could be replaced,” Gheith said, “but the marshal said that the person who did this could be charged for 25 murder attempts.”
Police are seeking the suspect in the firebombing.
