25,000 Coronavirus Related Deaths Reported in New York State
On Wednesday, NBC reported the number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in New York State, according to the governor, exceeded 25,000.
Daily death tolls have been down to the single digits in recent weeks, but Cuomo warns it could grow if more New Yorkers continue to disregard safety precautions like masks and social distancing.
“New Yorkers brought the curve down by making big changes, and we see that work reflected in the numbers every day,” Cuomo said Wednesday. “But we must continue to be smart – by wearing a mask, social distancing and washing our hands. We cannot go back to the [terrible numbers] we experienced three months ago, so please stay vigilant and New York Tough.”
Many regions throughout New York state have seen a sudden surge in coronavirus cases and officials say it may be due to the lack of compliance over July 4th weekend.
