It was a scene straight out of the Wild West. A cow got loose and caused chaos on the streets of Brooklyn. The cow was first spotted at about 11:30 AM running near the Prospect Expressway heading towards Boro Park. At Coney Island Avenue, the cow knocked over a 1 year old child in a stroller. Emergency Services treated the child who was left with several minor injuries, including a black eye. The cow, which was later identified to be a bull, ran 2 miles to Prospect Park after escaping a slaughterhouse on 4th Avenue and 16th Street in Sunset Park-talk about lean beef! A news helicopter from ABC7 followed the bull and provided a live stream of the animal as it ran around one of the gated fields in the park. NYPD Special Ops had a field day trying to corral the cow into a smaller space. Reporters and onlookers could not get enough of the unbullievable action. After several hours, the police shot the cow with a tranquilizer and managed to lasso the bull. After public outcry, the cow was not returned to the slaughterhouse. Police drove the cow to its new home in an animal sanctuary.
