Kalman Yeger to NYC: Stop the Money Grab!

24 Oct 2017 12:43 PM

Kalman Yeger, the Democratic and Conservative candidate for New York City Council, is calling on the city to ease issuing sanitation tickets where it is clear that the violation is a result of stray litter.  This comes in the wake of an astounding increase in dirty sidewalk tickets from 28,690 in 2013 to 65,272 in 2017.  “New York City is giving out twice as many sanitation tickets as ever before.  It’s a money grab, and it’s just not fair,” said Yeger.  “Meanwhile, our streets are not getting any cleaner.  These summonses are just a way for the city to make money off of hardworking homeowners and I won’t stand for it when I am in the City Council.”

“I demand that the city stop focusing on innocent homeowners and instead direct its enforcement on egregious violators, like illegal dumping,” Yeger added.

Yeger has committed to meeting with the Sanitation Commissioner immediately upon taking office to discuss how the city can reduce the number of sanitation tickets issued in our community.  “Our city has become greedy on the backs of the taxpayers,” Yeger said.

“Sanitation tickets are a tax, plain and simple.  I will make passing a New York City law to have a photo of each sanitation violation my top priority.  No one should get smacked with a fine because a gum wrapper flew onto their property.”

“We need to use every tool at our disposal to clean up our streets, but not on the backs of honest homeowners and small business.

Kalman Yeger is the Conservative and Democratic parties’ nominee for City Council in Brooklyn’s 44th Council District (Boro Park, Midwood, and Bensonhurst).
