Hate Crime? Two Unprovoked Attacks in Boro Park on Friday Night

Boro Park – 2 incidents in Boro Park late Friday night where a passerby was attacked by a gang of assailants, who assaulted him up before making a getaway.

The first incident occurred in the area of 14th Avenue and 51st Street, the group jumped out of their vehicle assaulted a passerby and fled. The victim’s cream alerted a Boro Park resident who managed to get the plate number. In a similar second incident, which was caught on nearby surveillance video occurred at the intersection of New Utrecht Avenue and 53rd Street where the group came upon a pedestrian and assaulted him.

A Shomrim Spokesperson tells BoroPark24.com that in both incidents the victim was walking home when the group jumped out of their vehicle, attacked and fled the scene. In the second incident, the victim’s scream alerted a Boro Park resident who managed to get the license plate number

The incident comes amidst a disturbing spate of anti-Semitic attacks in the city. This has included several random assaults on identifiable Jews in Williamsburg and Boro Park. Police have been adding patrols over the yomim tovim but the extra law enforcement presence has dwindled back to regular in the days since.
